Capturing the Spirit of the Twenties!

This historically accurate time travel adventure was written as an experiment in time travel – as if you actually traveled back in time, a day by day account: Take a trip back to the last week of September, 1927 to see Babe Ruth hit his record-breaking 60th home run, and hopefully connect with members of the famed Algonquin Round Table, especially the sardonic Dorothy Parker. So I let actual events tell the story just as if you actually traveled to New York City in 1927 (from Philadelphia’s Independence Hall as a time portal) and what could plausibly happen that week. I had no idea how it would unfold nor how it would end as I wrote it.
I literally traveled back in time thanks to exhaustive research using the New York Times as a day by day guide as well as other sources such as my extensive collection of 1920’s magazines, my 1926 Official Guide of Railways and Steamship schedules, for example.Listening to original 1920’s recordings (available on iTunes) and reading actual periodicals of that time, it feels like you could actually step out into the Roaring Twenties.
Of course the story itself is fictional. So if so inclined, please give it a read and hang out with Dorothy Parker, Benchley and the other wits of the Round Table as well as Babe Ruth, a young James Cagney and a mysterious Japanese Navy midshipman from their actual goodwill visit to N Y Harbor starting that Wednesday, September 28th, 1927.

So if you are having as much difficulty finding a gift as our friend above in the cartoon from Christmas, 1924 (by James Montgomery Flagg) try giving someone this adventure in time travel. (Keep in mind the nice thing about a Kindle gift is that someone cannot fling the book at your head if they are displeased: “This is a book not to be tossed aside lightly – it should be thrown with great force!” – Dorothy Parker)

To find out more, and have some fun along the way, take a walk back in time with us to the last week of September, 1927 to see Babe Ruth hit his record-breaking 60th home run. Hang out with the incomparably witty Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley and Harpo Marx. Meet Dorothy’s friend, F. Scott Fitzgerald; run into a young and as yet unknown James Cagney, Ben ‘Bugsy’ Siegel, a certain Japanese Navy midshipman and many others.
If you liked ‘Midnight in Paris’ or ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and enjoy Jack Finney’s ‘Time and Again,’ then you might like this book too! Enjoy! Available on Amazon both Paperback and Kindle editions!
